A strange little show with high highs and low lows, both in term of animation quality and script.
I'm a little surprised no one has written a review for this yet! I'll try. I consider it a hidden little gem. It's an episodic show with no overarching story and highly inconsistent quality and theme, but when it's good it's very enjoyable. Some episodes follow an emotional drama and are simple, direct and down-to-earth; those are the worst. Other episodes are dreamlike and concern more surreal, sometimes unclear storylines; those are the best.

There isn't much of a line connecting the different episodes, so I can only review them one by one. It feels like they gave cash to some creatives and let them do whatever. The first episode, Yukina's, is the most sci-fi, mecha-y one, and the rest of the show is not exactly like this. The one that comes closest to it is Ayaka's episode, and those are the most mediocre of the bunch. There is nothing in them that is memorable (you've probably seen very similar stuff already, the jokes aren't exactly original), but it serves if you need to watch something while eating lunch. I mean, I thought Yukina was cute!

Unfortunately, the actual bad stuff is really a drag. Chinami Ouse's episode, which is in the first half of the show if I'm remembering right, is a pain to get through. The story is clichéd, the animation is stilted and the art direction is unoriginal and plain not good. This was the only point where I got bored and it almost made me drop this thing, but I'm glad I didn't. The hazy atmosphere of Hatsumi's, Urara's and the Murasame sisters' gives off that otherwordly feeling that is so hard to find in media in general but that animation can pull off in an unique way. Hatsumi's would be better if it was told in a linear way; the timeline confusion doesn't accomplish much and only detracts from the plot, and I wish they put a little more time in animating the Murasame sisters' since it's the most original one, but they were still worth my twenty minutes. Urara's was my favorite. You're floating in the head of a romantic, grieving girl for the duration and I liked all the softeness and the imagery in it. Those three, along with Tanpopo's episode, are decent examples of how to tell a satisfying story in a limited runtime as well.

Kasumi's episode is not a decent example of how to tell a story in a limited runtime. Out of all of them it was the one I felt more strongly that there wasn't much accomplished, which sucks, because Kasumi was one of my favorite characters (I like a woman in a motorcycle). She just wasn't given enough screentime, on her own episode. There wasn't much of a plot and the characters surrounding here weren't carrying it either.

In conclusion, give it a go if you like quirky shows with some good dramatic beats. It's not some kind of hidden masterpiece, but there's enough good here to make it worth it. Way less angels than you'd expect though. They kinda ignore that motif for most of it.
