__Imagine a world where people inherit the talents of legendary historical figures. Now make the protagonist someone who spent his whole life trying to become talented... only to realize he had absolutely none. Then one day, he awakens the ability to steal the talents of other reincarnated geniuses. And instead of wanting to "save everyone," his goal is simple:__ >Take every talent. Become the strongest. No matter what it takes
Bro...
So you're telling me we're about to watch a morally gray protagonist manipulate, deceive, and outsmart people just to steal their abilities?
Hell yeah, sign me up.
...
Well Nope....
You got scammed... Instead, he slowly turns into another generic battle shonen protagonist
The first episode was pure hype.
I still remember adding this series to my manga list long before the anime was even announced and funny thing is... I had absolutely no idea what it was about , The cover art and tags were enough to catch my attention.
Then the anime finally aired and watched episode one...
And realized this had one of the coolest premises I'd seen in years.
A world where literally any historical figure could appear like Tesla , Newton , Einstein , Edison and even Hitle...yeah, let's not go there.
The possibilities felt endless.
And that's exactly why what came next was so disappointing.
So Let's keep this short . Here's where everything started falling apart
.
1. Wasted Potential ==
This one hurts the most Because the anime wasn't bad , It had one of the coolest concepts I've seen in years :
-
Historical figures.
-
Unique abilities.
-
A morally gray protagonist.
-
The ability to steal talents.
It literally had everything it needed to become something special.
Instead...
it slowly threw away almost everything that made it unique.
The darker tone faded And the series slowly settled into familiar battle shonen territory. That's why I call it wasted potential.
Not because it lacked good ideas...
But because it never fully committed to them
.
2.Loss of Character Complexity ==
Touya was the biggest reason I got hooked.
He wasn't talented.
He wasn't chosen.
He wasn't trying to be some noble hero.
He was driven by obsession.
Someone who finally gained the power to steal what the world had denied him.
damn that sounded amazing...
I genuinely expected
-
manipulation
-
Mind games
-
Lies
-
Betrayal.
A protagonist willing to cross the line if it meant getting stronger.
Instead...
he slowly becomes another hero who starts caring about everyone and barely feels like the same character introduced in episode one.
That was honestly the biggest disappointment for me
.
3.Generic Storytelling ==
The first episode made me think this anime wanted to do something different but It didn't.
The more the story progressed...
the more it started checking every familiar battle shonen box :
Save the world.
-
Bigger enemies.
-
Power-ups.
-
Friendship.
-
Predictable confrontations.
bro look none of these are bad on their own okay?
But when your opening promises something far more unique...
this shift feels incredibly disappointing.
.
4. Uneven Character Development ==
One thing that really bothered me that some characters get a decent amount of attention. And Others?
yea they show up, do something cool and whatever like this then the story just moves on.
hah a lot of historical figures had insane potential and I wanted to know more about them-
Their motivations.
-
Their personalities.
-
Their abilities.
Instead, many of them end up feeling more like plot devices than actual characters.
For a series built around historical legends...
yep that was pretty disappointing
Spoiler alert for this
5.Forced Plot Twists
I love plot twists , Seriously.
Like that moment when we find out Neumann was behind everything and That reveal was honestly sick.
But then...
We find out someone else was pulling his strings all along.
...Bro, seriously?
Yeah... that was just ridiculous
This anime reaches a point where it feels like everyone has a hidden agenda.
-
The villains aren't really villains.
-
The good guys aren't really good guys.
-
Someone betrays someone.
-
another character was secretly planning something else.
And then another twist happens.
At some point I just stopped caring.
Instead of thinking,
"Damn... I didn't see that coming."
I was thinking,
"Alright... who's secretly evil this time?"
That's when plot twists stop being exciting...
and start feeling forced
.
6.Inconsistent Power Scaling ==
The power system starts off pretty interesting
Each historical figure has their own unique talent.Simple and Easy to understand.
Then later...
Some characters suddenly become ridiculously strong and Others get defeated way too easily.
The rules start feeling less consistent, and more dependent on whatever the story needs at the moment.
.
Overall ==
I don't hate this anime.
Actually I wish I did , Because then I wouldn't be this disappointed.
The first episode promised something unique.
-
A darker battle anime.
-
A morally gray protagonist.
-
Historical legends.
-
Talent stealing.
It had everything And somehow...
it still ended up becoming another generic battle shonen thanks really...
That's what hurts the most.
it could've been so much better.and for Score Breakdown :
Wasted Potential -18
Loss of Character Complexity -15
Generic Storytelling -14
Uneven Character Development -8
Forced Plot Twists -6Inconsistent Power Scaling -4Final Score: 35/100 ==
Don't waste your time on the anime. Try the manga instead i dont know Maybe it handles the story better than the anime did-
