  A potentially fun anime screwed up by it's own premise. A half-spoiler free review.

  __Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta Shiromadoushi, S-Rank Boukensha ni Hirowareru: Kono Shiromadoushi ga Kikakugai Sugiru__ - Review If you’re an avid season anime watcher and, specifically a power-fantasy anime watcher, you’ve probably already watched a couple of animes with the same premise as this. The premise of a “weak” MC in a party that doesn't value him, kicked out, and then discovers himself (or not) to be actually strong. So strong that he was alone carrying his old party to greatness. Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta does exactly the same thing as all of this precedessors - or, does it? __Topics; Episode 1 review Episodes 2-12 spoiled review Conclusion__ __Episode 1__ starts off with MC, being kicked out of the Yuusha’s party. Then, we are shown Lloyd’s past. After the war with demons ended, a blonde beauty called Merlin picked up an orphan boy named Lloyd. Merlin was anything but ordinary in the use of magic, and for the entirety of Lloyd’s young and puberty age, she made him try to reach her own level, and DELIBERATELY caused him to have low self-esteem over his own magic, saying the words “I dont want him to make the same mistakes I did” as an excuse. At halfway through the episode, Lloyd himself is tired of being annoyed by Merlin, and go adventuring on his own as a White Mage, a role expected to give buffs, heal and do other utility things. Recruited by the Yuusha (Hero) party, they went on adventures together and were ABSOLUTELY carried by Lloyd decision making and buffing power, SOMEHOW not noticing it and of course, kicking him in the final minutes of episode 1. -> Again, if you have watched animes with the same premise, you’re probably fed up lots with this kind of story already. It also doesn’t do anything new up until this point to catch your attention. Worse, I actually think it forces characters to do things they wouldn’t otherwise because the anime WANTS to set-up the premise. First Merlin; okay, her friend died because her over-confidence, but did she really need to make the MC’s confidence as low as it is? I firmly belive she could balance Lloyd's feelings in a way that he knew his own strength, while also making sure that he wouldn't turn into a jerk because of it. Then, Lloyd’s own role; we were shown he was training offensive and buffing magic from a young age, but for some reason he sets himself as a White Mage from the start, and absolutely refuses to use any offensive magic, which I found to be pretty dumb. Why were him even training offensive magic in the first place, then? It’s like… the anime is, purposefully, setting up LLoyd to have a ghost contribution JUST so he could be kicked out a party in the start. That’s where this anime started to annoy me with it's writing. __Episodes 2-12; Review with spoilers__ This point onwards, I’m assuming you either finished the anime or just doesnt care. So let’s keep going; After the atrocious set-tup, we are met with a new party of characters that are all pretty kind, and surprisingly wholesome just like a big family. We are immediatally met with their first adventure, which longs about until half of episode 7. The entirity of their first mission, and must I say the anime, follows a pretty frustrating formula. Party needs to do something, Lloyd gives them SSS Rank buffs, and says “oh, its just some little buffs”, and everyone starts laughing because they think (and oh, they are right) that Lloyd is ridiculously strong. The second adventure lasts until ep 12, which is getting Claire to the Royal Capital, being ambushed by demons and etc. -> It pisses me off that because of Merlin, Lloyd think of himself as a lower and weak being in the WHOLE anime. That's ANYTHING but healthy. Having low self-esteem means that you cant have confidence in yourself which is where she’s aiming it, but it also makes so he wouldn't trust himself to be a strong mage and suffer from great humilliation just because of it, which is exactly what happens at the start. He doesn't know his own value, which is way he believes Allen when Allen says he's weak and useless. If lloyd was hired by ANY party other than Yui’s, he would probably keep living a very miserable life. Not having any value tributed to him or even worse, having his power noticed by a malicious party and abused by them so they could rise to glory without giving Lloyd any reward at all. (Which is likely what've have happened if Allen noticed Lloyd's magic power) -> Their first adventure is fine, aside from a character that I think were very poorly-written, Claire (or Kureha). Her main character trait is not wanting MONSTERS to be killed. Okay, thats a right of her own, and I respected that. But the fight with the chimera at the end were awfully done. She KNEW about the consequences of Lloyd interfering with Ancient Magic, and CHOSE to drag him around with the risk of killing Lloyd, just because she didnt want to have monsters killed. I also think this decision were made purely as a way for Lloyd to be met with Sibyl. I get that she likes monsters, but going to the extent of having a person you like potentially killed for them is way too extreme. -> I was surprised when I noticed that there were absolutely no scenes of the Yuusha party trying to do something without LLoyd and noticing they were way below average, but instead just acknowleding that they were way weaker now after he left, and everyone (except one, Lina) just runs together and never even appeared again. Fine I guess. By the way, Lina is cool. I 100% expected her to join Yui’s party as well, and instead she disappeared from the anime completely after dealing with Ishtar invasion. __Conclusion;__ In my view the anime could be pretty wholesome and funny because of the “main side characters”, Yui’s party, if not for the weakly-settuped character of Lloyd dragging their interactions down. The anime have such dumb decisions just for the sake of getting the plot in a certain direction, that I couldn’t fully enjoy the wholesomeness of the characters, which saddens me a lot. Just for the sake of it; the animation and art style is fine, with the overall production being fine. You can see it cutting budget with a lot of still animations but it isnt bad enough to drive you out of it. In concluson, I genuinely think the anime had no agency trying to set up its own story as an “kicked from yuusha party one” instead of trying to be its own thing, because it had potential. And it were wasted trying to fit in a genre tag that it didnt match. It’s like it tried to fit a circle in a square, pressing the circle AGRESSIVELY against the square until it landed on what this anime is.
