It's a pathetic yet endearing comic that explores depression and hermitude.
Reviewed at Chapter 155 which is the current end.

I really like it! It manages to finely display subtle growth with setbacks and the entire thing feels very fleshed out. It follows a pathetic Gye Baeksoon as she stumbles her way through adult life, growing and stagnating at the slightest challenge. It displays depression really well and the transient reality of motivation and yet it also manages to display how subtle and life-changing even the slightest growth can be! A lot of the characters are displayed to be earning paycheque to paycheque, showing all the ways they manage to retain (and not) their humanity.

I love the comedic undertones, it keeps the comic from sliding into super depressive territory and keeps the vibe light-hearted even when you feel for the characters. I also like how it handles creepy encounters very well. It was an absolute blast to read, especially the bubbles arc.

The primary motivation for Gye Baeksoon and the obstacles she encounters all have to do with money and it allows the story to develop non-linearly. I genuinely hope the character manages to make bank soon (without blasting it all away) and buys her dad a massage chair. It shows poverty and displays of ingenuity in managing to survive on practically nothing in a very endearing way. You end up rooting for the characters after a while (and feeling sorry for them).

The story deals with creative professions and their pursuit really well too, especially when it comes to doing something you love on a daily, deadline basis to earn money. It also keeps the story fresh by using her diminishing urge to write as an in-universe cut-away for all the other shenanigans she gets up to. It's so cooooool!

The author also publishes snippits daily so it's very consistent (aside from health breaks and those are chill as long as the author is okay lmao).

Anyway, I'm waiting to see how the recent arc pans out. She's hunting for a job for like the 3rd time this comic. It should be pretty lovely watching her get stuck in a dumpster fire of a job site.

I'll update this review once more stuff comes on through out of the woodwork. I hope the author keeps working on it for a long time moving forward because I can definitely see myself paying for this sort of slice of life comedy. Godspeed to anyone that wants to read it!
