  ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Considerations ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ● This is a spoiler-free review. ● 60+ in my rating means below average. ● I've added one of the anime soundtracks(ED) to the sound section. If you wish, scroll down, start it, and use it as your background music while you read. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Story ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The story covers Takuto, a young man who, after dying, finds himself reincarnated into his favorite turn-based strategy game. Now embodying the role of the kingdom's evil ruler, he must, with the aid of his favorite champion, build his empire from the ground up, just as he used to do when playing the game. To be honest, the story is average. A major issue is that the world is confusing; it takes too long to be made clear if he's truly inside the game or in a completely different world that just shares its mechanics. As the story goes on, the world-building and its rules only become more convoluted. If you can ignore that significant flaw, the plot of him steadily building his empire does progress well enough. Watching this feels like watching a cheaper version of Overlord. The core concepts are nearly identical: a guy gets isekai'd into a game-like world, has an evil alignment, and has to build an empire. This comparison makes the anime feel even more below average, as Overlord is a well-done series that handles these same ideas with much more skill and coherence. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Art ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The art for this anime is really average. The character designs are well done; they are distinct and don't all look the same with just different hair. However, there's nothing too incredible or memorable about this aspect of the anime's visuals. (Example of "animation") The same can be said for the animation. It isn't terrible, but it never impresses either. There was no moment during my watch where I was even slightly amazed by the animation quality, which is a letdown for a series that involves battles and building a fantasy empire. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Characters ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There are a moderate amount of characters in this anime. The cast is composed of the main character and his champion, and it gradually expands to include others as he starts growing his empire, making connections, enemies, and encountering different tribes. They're all okay, with each character serving a specific purpose in the story. The main character, Takuto, is average to me. He takes very long to show any real strength or commands the presence you'd expect from a "dark king." It's difficult to watch this anime and not compare him with Ainz from Overlord, and this is where the show really falls short. Takuto just isn't enough as a main character to carry the role of a dark lord. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Soundtrack ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There is nothing too crazy in this department, to be honest. Is this one of those animes where I would actively listen to or even think about the soundtrack afterward? No. Is it an anime I would remember for how bad the soundtrack was? Not really. So again, it's perfectly average in every sense of the word.

  ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Conclusion ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ If you're like me, you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you don't want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point: Maybe try it out.You should only watch this anime if you're looking for something that is close to Overlord, but you go in knowing that it isn't nearly as good. If you like the concept of this anime, but haven't watched Overlord, then that's the anime for you instead. I personally don't even think I'd watch a second season of this anime, if ever came out.

  ____Story____

  Takuto Ira dies from an illness (not Truck-kun) and gets reincarnated into a world that isn’t the strategy game he played (Eternal Nations), but a world that resembled it, representing the evil civilization Mynoghra. With a powerful hero by his side, Atou, Takuto uses his powers to recreate Mynoghra and bring it back to what it was.

  ____Characters____

  Takuto Ira is the number 1 player of Eternal Nations and was reincarnated into a world that incorporates Eternal Nations mechanics. He’s a strategic leader, but he struggles with communication. That’s where Atou comes in. Not only is she the powerful hero of Mynoghra, but she also helps relay messages from Takuto. She’s quite fond of Takuto, being jealous when he shows affection to others.

  ____The Good____

  I really like the concept of this anime. Going into it, I thought it was just gonna be another “reincarnated into a video game” cliche anime, but this show really did something different. There were a couple of scenes that felt brutal, which was a bit nice to see considering a lot of isekai anime similar to this don't show the same amount of brutality that some scenes of this anime show. I really liked that later on, they mixed different genres of video games and found a way to make them work without disregarding too many of either of their features. I thought how they combined them was clever, and I think it really kept my interest for this show. I mean, seeing Tabletops, RPG, and a turn-based strategy game all combined together was interesting to see. If there’s a season 2, I would definitely watch it to see how many more genres would show up and mesh because I liked that idea.

  ____The Bad____

  At first, this anime did feel exactly like a 4x turn-based strategy game, with the pacing and world-building not being the exact best. However, I think this show does pick up later on, especially with the different genres of games being introduced into the story.

  ____The Downright Ugly____

  Nothing downright ugly about this anime.

  ____Is It Worth The Watch?____

  I think that if you’re interested in turn-based strategy games, this show does a good job emanating that feeling while also still feeling like an entertaining anime to watch. Despite its few issues that showed up, overall, this show was quite fun with how it incorporated other video game genres and really does make me want to play a game like Eternal Nations (Although I’d probably get bored playing it lol).
