DESCRIPTION
During summer vacation, Tamotsu is on break from work happens to visit a particular café. It is at this café that Tamotsu meets Pico, who works there for his grandfather. Tamotsu instantly falls for Pico, believing that Pico is a girl because of his feminine appearance. However, to his disbelief, Pico claims he actually is a guy. Undeterred, Tamotsu pursues a sexual relationship with Pico, to an extent where he even persuades Pico into wearing girl clothes. When Pico asks what is he to Tamotsu, he finds himself unable to answer...

Once you get past the whole gay shota thing, it's... well, no, it's still pretty average for a hentai.Continue on AniListBoku no Pico is a gay shota hentai. If you had any misconceptions about that, I hope they have been cleared up. It's also the first gay OR shota hentai I've watched, as far as I can remember, thus killing two broads with one testicle. I may be a harsh critic, but there's absolutely nothing I just plain won't watch. I'm told it's also the first hentai anime of its kind. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it's certainly the first I've seen.
Story: The story of this episode is of Pico, a young crossdressing boy working at his grandfather's bar for the summer, and the 24-year-old man he's left with by his no-fucks-given elder. The two of them very quickly start an explicit relationship. All NAMBLA jokes aside, it's a fairly sweet story, if not very inspired. I didn't despise it, but at the same time, there's not much good to say about it from a purely writing perspective. The plot moves very unrealistically quickly, jumping almost immediately from meeting to sex, and the conflict in the episode is perhaps the most generic and overused in any love story, bringing nothing new to the table at all. Truthfully, the fact that the romantic partner is a young boy is completely inconsequential to the plot. You could replace Pico with an 18+ girl with exactly the same reactions and lines of dialogue and you'd have a very cookie-cutter hentai series that still made perfect sense. Not that I'm saying he should be an 18+ girl; rather, I'm saying that if a story is about man-boy love, it should be at least in some way reflected in the plot, rather than taking a standard, overused formula and lazily replacing the female love interest with a shota.
Art: The artwork is actually fairly strong in this series. Very pretty, cleanly drawn, and even cute. Animation was fluid, and overall, I have no complaints to speak of. The creators are quite fond of man-nipples. You don't see those too often in anime.
Sound: I've heard complaints about some of the sound effects used in this series, but having seen many more hentai series than the people issuing said complaints, I can say that they're nothing new and nothing that hasn't been used before. The Japanese voice acting was sweet and well-delivered, and the soundtrack suited the series very well. Again, well-rounded in all aspects.
Suffice it to say, Boku no Pico met all the minimum standards in place for hentai, making it a fairly average--perhaps even above average--entry in the world of hentai. In retrospect, I can say with confidence that I've seen many which were much, much worse, somewhat sloppy writing aside. Still, for having a generically sweet storyline, and for making boys cute again (as opposed to all the ugly old bastards I've grown accustomed to seeing in hentai), I wouldn't mind recommending this series to anyone interested in guys and/or shota, vanilla.

Now, the story was great in the 1st entry, although it could have done a better job in telling that story, it seems like this storyline was a bit shorter than the other entries, the same thing goes for the 2nd entry, the characters where introduced in a manner where the personality can be seen, however, like the 1st entry, the story seems to be short and more focused on the sexual scenes. This is different however in the 3rd entry. This time the story seems to be part of the show, with having more influence on the characters while still having a decent amount of sex scenes and so on, by the end of the 3rd entry, it gave a lot of a plot and gave a little bit of taste of storytelling in a way.-Art 9/10
This series was animated in a time where I’m a bit unknown of.
The art itself was great, and although it was censored, if you tried hard enough you can get passed it and enjoy its full potential. The character design was also great, seeing how someone would confuse them as girls, that’s is what a shota animation is supposed to do, they where cute and girlish, and the fact that they cross-dress was amazing, it really got me to think if their girls or boys, but aside from that, the sex scenes where well made, it really depicted the movement and the shaking of someone’s body during these kinds of situations. Although the reason why it got a 9, was mainly because I prefer watching something a bit more recent, this is when someone has only watched purely modern anime, which this can a new experience and not enjoy the show due to the art.-Sound 10/10
One of the important parts of any type of media, Sound. The sounds effects in the show were great and put at the right moment, the rustle of the bedsheets, footsteps, all that stuff is all cued and played at the right time with the sound. The voice acting was also great, the voices were great for the characters and the voices matched the personality of the characters and the quality of the voices was amazing, even though some of the mouthings was a bit off at times, this happens any Anime.-Character 10/10
I liked the characters for what they are, they like to tease each other which is very amusing. The way they interact, is like they been friends for a long time, even though they meant each other on that same day, and the personalities are also great for all the characters, the interaction with these shotas is inspiring, what I mean by that, is that you can be good friends by sharing something in common, even though it this example is having sexual acts with your fellow boy.-Enjoyment 10/10
This series was something that I enjoyed very much because of the sexualization in the scenes, the moaning, the sounds, everything I enjoyed, it really got me to rethink my fetishes, this was a fucking bombshell, and I enjoyed it to the point where I had to stop looking at it for the scenes…-Overall 9/10
The entire trilogy of 33min Episodes was something new to me, it was something that I would have never expected to enjoy when someone recommended me to this for the 1st time, although, it something I would sit and watch it again just to relive the moment of a new experience for me.

Also, I will not be discussing the morality of enjoying something like this, with the main focus of this review being the Story, Characters and Production Quality. Without further ado, lets begin
To start off this review, I would like to first delve into the production aspects of this anime, as that is where I believe it shines most brightly. As far as animation goes, I was pretty impressed. That level of animation is something I'd expect from a slightly below average slice of life series of the same time period, so I definitely wasn't expecting animation that passable from such a niche hentai. While there may have been some straight up ugly scenes or character movement, the level of animation remained relatively consistent, which is more than can be said for most other hentai I've seen. I'd give the animation on this anime a solid __4/10__. Now onto what I believe to be the best aspect of this anime, the music. The opening / ending theme song for this anime is surprisingly good, with a catchy beat and solid vocals, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't listening to it as I'm writing this review. In contrast, the soundtracks which played throughout the anime felt incredibly generic, but I will give it a passable score for two reasons, the first being that it is obviously just some track they found somewhere online, as I could swear I've heard the exact same soundtracks in multiple different shitty eroges. The second reason is that these soundtracks don't feel out of place in the scenes in which they're used. This is better than most low budget hentai, so I will give the music a __5/10__. The voice acting was incredibly bland, with no real emotion coming through whatsoever. This is noticeably bad during the final few scenes of this OVA, where Tamotsu was chasing after Pico. While the soundtrack was actively working to build up suspense, the dry and emotionless voice acting completely negates whatever tension the scene had. Pico's voice acting was relatively endearing, but not enough to stop me giving the overall voice acting score a __2.5/10__ Now onto the final production aspect which I want to talk about, and easily the worst, that being the sound effects. The sound of cicadas chirping constantly in the background was incredibly distracting, to say the least, and some of the sound effects during the sex scenes sounded genuinely grotesque, and I feel these scenes could've been a little less disgusting to sit through had the quality of the sound been better. They were pretty bad, but could've been worse, so I'll give the sound effects a __2/10__. Even while turning a blind eye to the completely disgusting elements of the story being told through this anime, I still found it to be completely underwhelming. The story is full of unrealistic and incredibly forced elements, which just serve to quicken the pace in order to get to the sex scenes as soon as possible. It also has many completely unrealistic elements, like the old man who just let his grandkid go off with some creepy guy for hours on end, which completely kills almost any immersion the viewer may have at this point. As for the characters, Pico is relatively likeable at first, but as the story progresses his character does the opposite, turning into a boring and generic mess of a character. Tamotsu, on the other hand, is disgusting, yet lacking any real drive for me to hate him, or feel anything towards him for that matter. He feels too boring for me to possibly care about, or even consider putting on the same level as genuinely dislikeable characters such as [Makoto Itou](https://anilist.co/character/3358/Makoto-Itou). The old man being the only other character in the story, is mainly just used as an attempt to justify why Pico starts spending so much time with Tamotsu, but that is ruined by aspects I mentioned earlier, so really this character is completely useless, only serving to add in an immersion-breaking plot hole. Ultimately the story just falls flat, due to a mixture of plot holes, poor production quality and characters which lack any sort of depth, realism or likeability. My final score for both Story and Characters is a __1/10__. These scores would leave the mean score at a 2.5/10, but due to the pedophilic nature of the story, I will be deducting 1.5 more points, leaving the final score of Boku no Pico at a __1/10__. I recommend watching this for the memes, but don't expect anything other than infuriatingly bad writing, awkward voice acting and a lingering feeling of disappointment in yourself for even watching it. Have a nice day, and please don't block me!
