Hello there. This is one of the first reviews i ve ever wrote and my english is bad also so hope you understand for me. I discovered this manga after watching a recap on YouTube. After that, I decided to read it myself and write this review. Honestly, Im still surprised even after finishing it. My reaction was something along the lines of "Wth was that ending?" and "How can people be so deceitful?" With that said, heres my review based on several criteria:

Story – 8.5/10

For a short manga, the idea is surprisingly interesting. The story follows a "perfect" family on a vacation who accidentally stumble upon an amusement park called Happy Land. There, they are greeted by a rabbit costume who serves as the host of the park. At first sight, it looks like a place filled with joy, just as its name. However, that is only the beginning of a brutal survival game. It is a place where people trample over others to survive, where secrets are exposed, where trust becomes increasingly fragile, and where families are torn apart. Unlike popular death game mangas such as As the Gods Will or Alice in Borderland, which focus primarily on surviving the games, Happy Land is more concerned with exposing the hidden truths and primal nature of humanity. The plot twists are also very engaging, especially in the final chapters where the characters' decisions become unpreditable. Overall, I would give the story an 8.5/10 for its originality. If the concept had been explored more deeply, the score would have been even higher.

Art – 8.5/10

The artwork is detailed, and the gore level is ok for me, although some readers may feel that the series relies a little too heavily on shock value. Many of the side characters exist primarily to be crushed by the games and turned into pools of blood. Still, the authors art style is instantly recognizable. I would give the artwork 8.5/10.

Characters – 7/10

Character writing is arguably one of the most important aspects of a horror manga. Unfortunately, the characters' backstories are not explored deeply enough for me. Their motivations and the reasons behind the way they treat their family members often feel underdeveloped. Because of that, I found it difficult to sympathize with most of the characters. For me, the characters deserve 7/10.

Horror/Gore – 9/10

The author is well known for creating mangas those are absolutely insane, and compared to some of their other works, this one feels somewhat more restrained. That said, there is still plenty of blood and gore. If you re a fan of intense horror, you will have no problem enjoying this manga.

Themes and Meaning – 8.5/10

Through Happy Land, the author criticizes people who live behind their masks and desperately try to conceal their sins. The manga also exposes the moral decay that can emerge when human beings are pushed to their limits. Under extreme circumstances, people often become cruel, selfish, and corrupted. At the same time, the manga delivers an important message about the value of family. Family is a source of emotional support, no matter how imperfect it may be, it is still the place we return to after experiencing failure, pain in life. The manga reminds us to cherish our friends, family, to live honestly as ourselves, to never leave ourselves with the regret of saying, "If only I had...".

Overall Thoughts

Despite only two volumes, Happy Land left a lasting impression on me. It is not merely a horror manga about violence, gore, and human depravity. Beneath all the bloodshed lies a surprisingly meaningful story with a deeply human message. While it may not reach the "greatest psychological horror manga", its unique idea, disturbing atmosphere, and thought provoking themes make it a memorable read that is well worth checking out for those fans of horror and death game mangas!
