  A funny isekai about a pro wrestler who loves animals more than saving the world.

  Kemono Michi: Rise Up (also known as Hataage! Kemono Michi) is an isekai comedy anime that takes a very differnt approach compared to most fantasy anime. The story follows Genzō Shibata, a famous masked professional wrestler known as "Animal Mask." Right before he is about to retire from wrestling and finally achive his dream of opening a pet shop, he gets magically summoned to another world by a princess who believes he is destined to become a hero.

  The princess explains to Genzo that dangerous monsters and magical beasts are causing problems throughout the kingdom and asks genzo to hunt them down. The problem is that Genzo is probably the worst possible person you could summon for that job because he absolutely loves animals/monsters. In fact, his love for animals borders on complete obsession. Rather than accepting her quest, he immediately gives the princess a German suplex and runs away. From there he decides to make it his mission to rescue, befriend, and care for the very monsters everyone else wants eliminated.

  What makes this anime stand out is how it completly flips the normal isekai formula on its head. Most protagonists are focused on becoming stronger, defeating demon lords, or saving the world. Genzo doesnt care about any of that. He would rather spend his time petting giant wolves, taking care of monster species, or trying to convince people that monsters deserve compassion too. This leads to a lot of absurd and hilarious situations throughout the series.

  A lot of the comedy comes from Genzo complete inability to understand why everyone else doesn't share his passion for animals. His wrestling background also plays a huge role in the humor since he often solves problems using wrestling moves instead of magic or weapons. Watching him treat dangerous fantasy creatures like oversized pets never really gets old and is easily one of the funnest parts of the show.

  The supporting cast is also pretty enjoyable. Each character brings something different to the table and their reactions to Genzos animal obsession help keep the jokes fresh. While some characters are more useful than others, they all contribute to the overall humor of the anime and help create plenty of memorable moments.

  Visually the anime looks good for what it is. The character designs are colorful, the monsters are creative, and the fantasy world feels lively enough to support all of the crazy situations that happen. The animation isn't mind blowing, but it does its job and helps sell the comedy when it needs to.

  Overall, Kemono Michi: Rise Up is a fun and lighthearted anime that doesn't take itself too seriously. Its unique premise, absurdist sense of humor, lovable cast, and animal obsessed main character make it stand out from many other isekai series. If you're tired of the same old fantasy stories and want something a little different, this anime is defintely worth checking out. It's weird, ridiculous, and sometimes downright stupid, but that's exactly what makes it so entertaining.
